Meetings
and Activities for March 2009:
Tuesday,
March 3 The regular monthly meeting of the Boy
Scout Units 448 Committee will be at the Jack Kepley Scout Building at 6:30
pm. Mike Agee and Ed Norvell will serve
supper.
Monday,
March 9 A team from the Rowan Chapter
of the Order of the Arrow (OA) will be present at our regular meeting to
conduct our troop's OA election. The OA
is Scouting's national honor society, as explained on pages 426-427 of the
Handbook, and it is a high honor to become a member. Some of our Scouts, who meet the membership requirements, may be
nominated and the troop will elect some to become OA members. .
Saturday, March
14 The troop has reserved the climbing and rappelling facilities at
Camp Barnhardt for this date. If you
have not participated in this exciting Scouting activity, you have a great
experience in store. No prior climbing
or rappelling experience is necessary and there is no charge for this
event. We will leave the Scout building
at 8:00 am. Don't miss it.
Tuesday, March 24
The regular monthly troop Board of Review will be held at 6:30 pm. Class A uniform is required. This will be the last Board of Review before
the Troop Court of Honor. Complete the
requirements for any rank advancement or merit badge you are working on so that
you may be recognized at the Court of Honor.
Sunday, March 29 A BOWL-A-THON
sponsored by Coburn United Methodist Men will be held at the Woodleaf Lanes at
3:00 pm to support Scouting in the United Methodist Church. Three games and bowling shoes will cost
$7.00. Have your patrol enter a team
for this event and get your family and friends to sponsor your
participation. They may pledge any
amount they wish, usually so much per pin you knock down to make the game more
exciting. Get all the details and a
pledge card at Scout meeting. Your team
could be the winner of this event.
.
Monday, March 30 The
first Court of Honor for the year will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Coburn
Memorial United Methodist Church at 7:00 pm.
Meet at 6:30 pm to get ready for this event. Please invite your family to attend with you. The troop's spring and summer activities
will be reviewed and some special awards will be presented. Refreshments and fellowship will follow
after the Court of Honor.
REMEMBER continue to bring in your aluminum cans and
used ink cartridges to earn Troop 448 Wampum that may be used for any troop
expense or activity charge.
