YORKTOWN TRIP On the weekend of April 4th - 6th the troop will go to Charleston, SC to spend two nights on the Yorktown Aircraft Carrier. We will eat in the ship's galley and sleep in the crew's quarters. A boat trip to Fort Sumter is also planned for Saturday. You may complete some of the requirements of Aviation Merit Badge on this trip and there are many things of interest on board that you can see and do. The weekend trip will cost $75.00. If you have not registered, contact Asst. Scoutmaster Bill Greene, 704 633 5952. This will be an exciting trip and if you have never been, don't miss it.
SCOUT SHOW This year the Scout Show will be a one-day event at Dan Nicholas Park on Saturday, April 19th to be held in connection with the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby. The primary patrol activity will be to prepare a meal demonstrating patrol cooking. You may also demonstrate other patrol activities or objects. See what you can come up with to demonstrate the best your patrol can offer.
SCOUTS HIDE EASTER EGGS For a troop service project, Seth Culp, Alex Gilland, Dylan Morgan, Zach Oster and Nathan Shorter hid Easter Eggs in the garden beside Coburn Church and in the field behind the church office Saturday afternoon for a three church Hispanic group as part of their celebration of Super Sabado. Pastor Annalee Allen expressed the church's appreciation during the Easter Sunday worship service.
JOHN RINK HONORED For his service as troop and committee treasurer for 56 years John Rink was presented a plaque and a ‘thank you' letter signed by 35 Scout leaders and members of the committee at Coburn's Easter Sunday worship service. After the service, coffee and do-nuts were served in the fellowship hall giving everyone an opportunity to congratulate John. Earlier this year he expressed a desire to give up this job and his resignation was accepted at the March Scout Committee meeting. Asst. Scoutmaster Bill Greene was appointed as the new troop and committee treasurer. Much of the credit for our troop's successful financial history can be attributed to John's careful management of troop and committee funds.
